Golden State Annex Overview

Golden State Annex is an ICE detention facility at 611 Frontage Road in McFarland. Research identifies GEO Group as the operator and ICE as the federal detention agency. ICE treats Golden State Annex as an annex to Mesa Verde, about 26 miles away, but it has its own facility page, address, phone number, visiting rules, and money channel. It belongs as a separate Kern County facility page because it is physically in the county and listed by ICE.

Golden State Annex is civil immigration detention. It is not a county jail, and it is not a CDCR state prison. A person detained there may have immigration proceedings, transfer history, or a past criminal case, but the public custody lookup should begin with ICE ODLS. The KCSO jail roster cannot be relied on for a person in ICE civil custody unless the question is about a separate earlier county booking. ICE ODLS is also not a mugshot gallery.

Golden State Annex Capacity

Research found a maximum capacity of 700 beds and a guaranteed minimum of 560 beds under the ICE/GEO arrangement, drawn from California DOJ 2026 reporting. The facility can hold male and female adults, but California DOJ 2026 reporting said it housed only male detainees at the time of visit, and ICE reported male-only housing for fiscal years 2020 through 2025. Those details should be stated carefully because the facility capability and the recent housed population are not the same claim.

Golden State Annex population language should not be folded into Kern County jail ADP. It is ICE civil detention. It also should not be treated as CDCR prison capacity, even though the Central Valley has several state-prison sites nearby.

Golden State Annex Lookup

Use ICE Online Detainee Locator System for Golden State Annex. ODLS supports A-number search and biographical search. ICE requires country of birth. For A-number search, the A-number should be nine digits, with leading zeros added if needed. For name search, first name, last name, date of birth, and country of birth are important, and hyphenated names should be entered with the hyphen.

1. Search ODLS by A-number and country of birth when the A-number is known.
2. Use biographical search when no A-number is available.
3. Try aliases, full first names, and hyphenated surnames if the first search fails.
4. Remember that ODLS cannot search minors under 18.
5. Call Golden State Annex at (661) 792-2731 for detainee information from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. when ODLS does not locate the person.

Golden State Annex has its own facility phone and address. Use this contact after checking ODLS or when ODLS does not locate a person who may be in ICE custody. Callers should have the detainee's full name, A-number if known, date of birth, country of birth, and any alias or hyphenated-name information.

Golden State Annex Visiting

Golden State Annex visiting is governed by ICE facility rules, not by KCSO jail visiting or CDCR prison visiting. Research notes say captured ICE visiting information listed two-hour visits, which is longer than the KCSO jail visit windows documented elsewhere in the project. Legal visits can be scheduled through ERO eFile, and in-person attorney visits were listed Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Golden State Annex Money

Golden State Annex uses CorrectPay for money deposits in the research file. That is different from Mesa Verde, which had JailATM, JPay, facility deposits, and mailed checks or money orders. For Golden State Annex, the documented options are CorrectPay phone at (855) 836-3364, CorrectPay.com, or a USPS money order sent to the facility with the detainee's full name and A-number.

Mail rules should be checked through the current ICE facility page. At minimum, use the detainee's legal name, A-number when known, and the facility address. Do not send funds using county jail vendors unless ICE or the facility specifically directs that route.

Golden State Annex Intake

Intake at Golden State Annex is civil immigration detention intake. It should not be described as criminal booking, jail arraignment custody, or state-prison reception. A person may arrive from another ICE facility, from the end of local criminal custody, or from another immigration enforcement path. Public lookup depends on ODLS and facility confirmation. If a person has a parallel criminal case, court records may exist, but the ICE detention location still uses ICE systems.

The facility's annex relationship with Mesa Verde can confuse searches. If ODLS does not locate someone at one Kern ICE facility, check exact spelling and then use facility phone channels. Golden State Annex and Mesa Verde have different phones and money rules.

The annex label should not be read to mean that every Mesa Verde rule applies at Golden State Annex. The research file specifically separates the money channel, facility phone, visiting notes, and bed figures. It also notes that Golden State Annex recently housed male detainees even though the facility can hold adult men and women. For a family member, that means the safest workflow is ODLS first, Golden State Annex phone confirmation second, and only then travel, mail, or deposits.

About Golden State Annex

Golden State Annex is one of the Kern County ICE facilities that must be separated from the county jail population and the CDCR prison population. It is physically in McFarland, while Mesa Verde is in Bakersfield and California City Detention Facility is in eastern Kern County. ICE civil detention data is time-sensitive and can be affected by transfers, facility contracts, and federal policy, so ODLS and official ICE facility pages are the controlling public channels.

Its location in McFarland also matters for travel planning. The facility is not at the Lerdo jail complex, not at the Kern Superior Court's Metro address, and not on the Delano CDCR prison grounds. Visitors and legal representatives should confirm the exact facility name before driving because several Kern County detention sites sit within the same broader Central Valley corridor but operate under different agencies and rules.
